Aplikasi teknologi dalam sektor industri konstruksi terbukti menjadi pendorong utama pertumbuhan ekonomi, meningkatkan kemakmuran dan mewujudkan peradaban modern. Kemajuan teknologi memerlukan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan, dimana ilmu teknik sipil merupakan salah satu pilar utama dalam pengembangan teknologi. Untuk menghasilkan tenaga peneliti, tenaga ahli dan profesional dalam bidang ilmu teknik sipil, PPS FTUB membuka program doktor teknik sipil mulai tahun ajaran 2008/2009 Lulusan yang dihasilkan diharapkan mampu mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan memecahkan berbagai permasalahan yang sedang dihadapi Indonesia dan dunia. Mengingat kebutuhan lulusan doktor teknik sipil seperti telah diuraikan di atas maka dibukalah Program Studi Doktor (S3) Teknik Sipil, mulai tahun ajaran 2008/2009 dan secara resmi Program Studi Doktor (S3) Teknik Sipil memperoleh ijin penyelenggaraan mulai 23 Mei 2008 berdasarkan Surat Dirjen Dikti No. 1665/D/T/2008.
Pada tahun akademik 2007/2008 pengelolaan Program Magister Teknik Sipil berpindah dari PPSUB ke Program Pascasarjana Fakultas Teknik Universitas Brawijaya (PPS FTUB) dengan menyelenggarakan 3 program studi S2 dan 2 Program Studi S3. Sejak tahun akademik 2010/2011 Program Pascasarjana Fakultas Teknik Universitas Brawijaya (PPS FTUB) menjadi Program Magíster dan Doktor Fakultas Teknik Universitas Brawijaya (PMD FTUB) menyelenggarakan 6 Program Studi S2 dan 2 Program Studi S3.
Pada Perkembangan selanjutnya, sejak tahun akademik 2013/2014, sesuai keputusan Senat Fakultas Teknik, masing-masing program studi S2 dan S3 yang sebelumnya dibawah Program Magister dan Doktor Fakultas Teknik Universitas Brwaijaya (PMD FTUB) dipecah menjadi dibawah naungan masing-masing Jurusan, termasuk yang berada di bawah Jurusan Teknik Sipil Fakultas Teknik Universitas Brawijaya.

Technological advances require the development of science, where the science of civil engineering is one of the main pillars in the development of technology. To generate the energy researchers, experts and professionals in the fields of civil engineering, PPS FTUB open doctoral program in civil engineering started the 2008/2009 school year. The resulting graduates are expected to develop science and solve various problems that are being faced by Indonesia and the world. Considering the needs of doctoral graduates in civil engineering as described above then AirAsia opened a Doctoral study Program (S3) in civil engineering, started the school year 2008/2009 and Doctoral study Program officially (S3) civil engineering gained permission start holding of May 23, 2008 based on the letter of the Directorate General of higher education no. 1665/D/T/2008.
In the academic year 2007/2008 the management of civil engineering master’s degree Program was moved from PPSUB to the Graduate School of the Faculty of Engineering University of Brawijaya (PPS FTUB) and hosts the 3 courses S2 and S3 Course 2. Since the academic year 2010/2011 graduate school of the Faculty of Engineering University of Brawijaya (PPS FTUB) became Program engineering faculty and doctorate Magíster Ub (PMD FTUB) held 6 Course S2 and S3 Course 2.
On the further development, since the academic year 2013/2014, by a decree of the Senate of the Faculty of engineering, each course S2 and S3 that were previously under the Master and doctorate from the University of Brwaijaya (PMD FTUB) under the auspices of the broken down into individual departments, including those that are under the Department of Civil Engineering University of Brawijaya.
